BIOGRAPHY |
|
They were 'sent here to lead you to rock and roll glory', and after a
line-up change in 2006, Coventry band The Way finally established themselves
after years of searching for the right members. Formed as a mainstream rock
outfit, the group has been writing and performing collectively since day
one. They hold an impressive back catalogue of original songs, and are known
locally as "rock chameleons", as the band's material is eclectic in it's
style, bringing out the best in each track with depth and versatility. |

CHRIS
LEAD SINGER/RHYTHM GUITARIST
|
Chris has been in bands since he was 12, and by the age of 15 was on a UK tour with an up-and-coming group. He started writing during this time and went on to form his own band. In 1999 he went to university to study music, majoring in electric guitar. Whilst there, he achieved grade 8 standard in electric guitar playing, grade 5 drumming, grade 5 singing, grade 5 music theory, a national diploma in music performance and production, plus a HND in sound engineering and a HND in composition. He developed skills in many different instruments, including guitar, bass, piano, harp, saxophone, trumpet, drums, percussion, clarinet, and many more. When he left university in 2001, he strived to create a band which utilised all he had learned about music, and the industry. This was the birth of The Way. |

MANDZ
LEAD GUITARIST/BACKING SINGER
|
Mandz has been involved in music ever since he can remember, and was singing and performing in bands from the age of 12. When he reached 17, he decided to explore a variety of instruments to bring new skills to a band. He taught himself to play drums, bass and keyboard, but really excelled with the guitar. He began playing different genres, from brit-pop to metal, then on to blues, pop and country, and eventually settled into his own style which was a blend of all he had learned. Fast forward a few years and he found that he was becoming well known locally for his guitar skills, and even started teaching those who recognised his talent in his spare time. Having developed his techniques on guitar, it wasn't long before he was performing in bands again, using his guitar skills, and singing backing vocals in The Way. |

STEVE
BASS GUITARIST/BACKING SINGER
|
Having spent years admiring musicians and loving music, Steve started playing bass at the age of 15. His ability to learn quickly lead him to his first band shortly after. Influenced by the likes of Muse's Chris Wolstenholme, Steve excelled in the group, which later went on to get signed. During a period of extensive gigging, an encounter with Pete Doherty backstage at a gig inspired him to go further with his playing, and so he developed his skills, picking up abilities in a range of instruments including guitar, drums, singing and percussion. In 2005, he was offered a place in a band who played a range of styles, and so he returned to his first love, which was playing bass, and joined The Way. |

DAN
DRUMMER
|
Dan has always had a love for rock and indie music, and like his heroes, he wanted to perform live. Having been influenced by the likes of John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), he started learning drums whilst still at School, and when he was 17, he became a member of his first band. After working with several groups along his travels, he eventually found himself in Coventry. It wasn't long before Dan was auditioning again, and after working with guitarist, Mandz, they eventually collaborated with a band who were impressed with his drumming, and found his organisational skills a valuable asset in pushing for success. Dan joined The Way and has never looked back since. |
